THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF MODERN ART, KYOTO (075-761-4111)

The collection of the Museum consists mainly of modern arts of the world, with a particular emphasis on the artists or artistic movements in the Kansai and the western districts of Japan. The collection also includes outstanding modern Japanese style paintings and crafts of the Kyoto School as well as ceramic arts and photographs of the world. The Museum regularly holds both permanent exhibitions to display works mainly from their collection and special exhibitions with a special theme.

"Galleria Borghese:The Splendid Collection of a Noble Family"

The Galleria Borghese is housed in the Villa Borghese, which was constructed in order to display works of art collected by the noble house of Borghese in the early 17th Century. This exhibition of Italian art features some 50 items selected from the collection, including works by Botticelli, Raffaello and Caravaggio, some of which are displayed in Japan for the first time.
