HYOGO PREFECTURAL MUSEUM OF ART (078-262-0901)

Designed by the world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, the building of Hyogo Prefectural Museum itself is known as an artwork. Exhibitions include permanent exhibitions mainly by artists who have connections with Hyogo, and special exhibitions of famous artists and of unique concept. Not only fine arts, but also various artistic events of cinema, music, fashion and classic performing arts are held.

Special Exhibition "Kazuo Oga Exhibition"

2010 is the 15th anniversary since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, and The Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, a symbol of cultural restoration, will be holidng a special exhibit in its commemoration. The exhibit will feature works by Studio Ghiblis eminent craftsman Kazuo Oga (1952- ). Oga served as the art director of many Studio Ghibli movies including "My Neighbor Totoro." There will be about 600 pieces of his heartwarming works in display.

Special Exhibition "Yuki Ogura, Retrospective"

This exhibition is held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Yuki Ogura (1895-2000), the Japanese-style artist, famous for her vivid depictions of ordinary people and for her vivid still-life paintings.
