THE MUSEUM OF KYOTO (075-222-0888)

The Museum of Kyoto is a comprehensive cultural facility whose purpose is simply to introduce the history and culture of Kyoto. In addition to an exhibition of historic Kyoto using mockups and films�C arts and crafts closely associated with the city are displayed in the Crafts Room. Masterpieces of the cinema are screened in the Film Room. The museum annex was formerly the Kyoto Branch of the Bank of Japan. As representative of the Western-style buildings that were constructed in Japan during the Meiji Period�C it has been designated as the national important cultural asset.

The exhibition features works selected from three series of pictures: �gOne Hundred Scenes of Kyoto�h�C �gThe Four Seasons in Kyoto�h and �gTribute to Life�h. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the essence of Kyoto�fs beauty�C nature and traditions.

Special Exhibition �hKAZARI: The Impulse to Decorate in Japan�h

Since ancient times�C Japanese people have decorated their clothes�C accessories and personal belongings beautifully and sometimes eccentrically. This exhibition illustrates the world of KAZARI in a new format with drawings�C craftwork and performing arts.
